Hi Arwen,
Thanks for your thoughts. You know sometimes it is not what we say but how we say in. Coincidently I had a client doing my workshop who said "Thank goodness you didn't say I was an apple....I know I am an apple shape but the thought of being an apple shape makes me feel fat."

I believe it is important that we as men and women embrace our shape and work with it. I do think that if our client is seeking a particular look then we should talk about body balance and proportion.

This is an interesting concept especially since AICI is big on body figures and describing them as hour glass, pear and such. I do believe one needs to embrace who they are and hide those flaws that may be less then perfect.

I don't see any connection between how we describe a body shape and the low self esteem of your article. I think when people can visualize the shape of their body it is easier to choose clothing for that shape. Otherwise, it is often times a hit and miss with inappropriate clothing being worn.

Much to think about... Thanks!

Hi! yes I agree corporate dress has become more casual. In Australia I do think location plays a major part in what to wear. Queensland climate is hot and warm so black is not the best colour and so colour in clothes is much more prominent. Unfortunately in New South Wales & in Victoria black is the colour. This is a shame since colour can tell you a lot about a person and about the organisation they work for.

Hello Cosimina!

Greetings from the USA! It seems that here in the states, it is also true about black in corporate settings, especially in places like New York. I am from NY and that was almost entirely what we wore. However, depending on the particular industry, one could always add a splash of color in the form of a shirt or scarf. Now I live on the west coast and it is definitely more casual. I do think also that as a general rule everything is more casual than it was a number of years ago, so you may see less black.
